HOME SOS CALLING

Looking at a few ways to alert designated persons in the case of emergency when at home, a few reasons to have a system in place could include:

  Serious health condition

For person Classed as vunerable / at risk

 Live alone

An add to your protection levels

Can give others peace of mind

Back home,South Africa.

Armed security response is often part of a panic call system.

               DIY PANIC ALERT

Firstly linking panic attack buttons to your home alarm system is one option, panic buttons such as these are reset using a key prior to the reset of your main system, these can be fitted in numerous locations,

it is worth hiding a couple out of sight too. Remember in the case of emergency calling you will need an auto dial, which is an easy add on if your system does not have one.

      PHONE LINE AUTO DIALLERS

These models use your standard phone line. But someone could tamper with the line, depending how exposed it is this is true however a couple of steps can afford some prevention of tamper. Alarm cable, like standard phone cable is multi cored so running a wire from your anti tamper circuit joint outside then back again will at least send your alarm into activation (sounders, strobes and such)Another method is to check the line yourself, on occasion make ensure you have a dial tone, if away dial your number. Line checks from company monitored systems are regular. You can pay for a basic monitoring / keyholding service.

We have two phone line units. One incorporates a 'full alarm' and indeed is expandable. The other is a basic call and speak. Both have emergency battery back up.

    HOME SAFE ALARM AUTO DIALLER

This model has an inbuilt siren, which i set to mute so is silent in activation as an autodial.
This dials four numbers in rotation. It is activated either by PIR detection, if set, or panic button on the unit or the pendant panic button. This model can be extended with another sounder and magnetic contacts.  Activation sound plays to numbers entered
.

               YALE AUTO DIALLER

Activation either from button on the unit or pendant button, allows two way speech, activation is not silent as unit give confirmation beeps upon activation. You can record your own outgoing message.

Make a simple wall mount alert button using a second fob, ideal by the bed and such, whilst the distance to the main unit may not allow two way conversation the alert will be sent.

             MOBILE AUTO DIALLER

This model uses the mobile network, you can choose your own network, sends a pre recorded message to selected numbers and allows talk, it also has a 'listen in' feature which can be either on or off, an LED indicates if it is in use. If using n a security setting it would be an idea to locate the unit out of site as reset is a simple push to cancel, i deal for other emergencies though. All settings are done via text. Status LED indicates it is connected to your network of choice. Activation by fob (on neck lanyard or wrist strap) or it can be activated direct from the unit. Mains power fail alerts those that have the number although it does have battery back up.

              PORTABLE VERSION

This one is ideal for portable use, everyday day carry. Button activated SOS alert, gives location, can be used as a tracker and has a listen in function.

So in recap, a means of alert, for assistance as easily as possible. My thoughts on this are having had my stroke sometime back coupled with the need to get 'the message out' should other eventuals occur. Home invasion is one such occurrence that is common back home in South Africa.Younger kids and emergencies, yes we teach dial triple nine but in stress it could be another matter. One single press, if something happens.
