LOCALISED INFRASTRUCTURE RISK

Consider the risks of losing vital services during unrest or high crime levels from the destruction of related infrastructure.
Some of these critical installations are somewhat remote

and hidden away making them even more of a target.

Attack, vandalism or resulting damage from materials theft can cause chaos.
Whilst here in the U.K this problem is thankfully not quite so extreme as in South Africa it does happen here in U.K, such as railways regarding cable theft among others

and i have recently seen reports of cell / mobile towers being attacked during the current (at time of post) coronavirus covid-19 situation which has prompted me to put this post together.

News articles in reference to the current situation, showing how crime can change scenario dependant.
5G masts vandelised over crazed theory
Engineers physically abused over nonsense claims
Consider your reliance provided by such localised infrastructure and the risk it could indeed pose to you should it go down and consider incorporating any such failure into into your planning
Looking at some examples from back home, South Africa, where attacks on cell phone towers are common, in main for the theft of the batteries.
This has cost the companies concerned millions, so regular at times they refuse to refit.
Numerous other attack on infrastructure occur within SouthAfrica including but not limited to railways, electricity substations, water meters, electricity pylons. These are all for the scrap value.
Stealing cable from sub stations, sometimes resulting in serious injury or death.
Even the electricity pylons themselves are

targeted with supports removed for scrap value.

So it is worth remembering, during times of high crime, unrest, or other serious scenarios attacks to infrastructure can occur, whether by deliberate sabotage, for theft or just lunacy.
Whatever the cause, the outcome will be the same, loss of services. Plan ahead for such occurrences.
